Thanks to someone (can't remember who), I was warned about the expiration date. Finally rounded them up, walked into Target, and by total sh*t luck bought my two DTV boxes 1 day before they expired.

I have no need for them. I was planning to buy some "just in case" but then my wife reminded me of the huge box of cassette tapes I held on to "just in case."

I am still hanging on to those cassette tapes.

I marched into Best Buy and picked up two boxes within two days of getting mine. I was hopeful that, as I've read about on the interwebs, they would give me the locals from markets 100+ miles away in digitally-clear brilliance using only a settop antenna, but, alas, it's a lucky day when I get the independent that's 30 or 40 miles away....

What sort of converter boxes are you all using? I picked up the later model Zenith DTT900, and I couldn't be happier with it. I'm getting lots of stations with a $10 antenna on this thing, even in my extremely multipath-challenged location.

I have tested several of these including Apex, GE, RCA, DigitalStream (don't... just don't), and others. The Zenith DTT900 was best by a mile. It is also sold as the Insignia NS-DXA1-APT. Great box with a very simple user interface, and reception equal to much more expensive tuners.

I've got the GE model that Target sells and am pretty pleased with its performance - at least the equal of the Samsung box I've had for a couple of years.
