Now that's cool!Per his request, his remains will be cremated and scattered among the towers in the field behind the WXBQ studios.

Re: Bill Blake has died

I'm diggin' the artifacts in this old picture ...
1. Rotary dial Bell System 1A2 telephone
2. Old style metal coffee pot
3. Glass pop bottles
4. SMOKING IN THE PRODUCTION ROOM
5. Cart machines
6. Electrical transcription sized turntables
7. Albums! Real vinyl record albums!
8. Reel to reel tape and hand-held magnetic eraser
9. 45 RPM records casually laid on top each other
10. Coffee cup on top of electronic equipment
11. The old style 'police dispatcher' microphone
I don't recognize the cart machines or the production board.
Gates? Collins?
Neat stuff!

Re: Bill Blake has died
While this was heavily frowned upon, I used to smoke (a little bit) in the WTCR/WBVB production room on radio mountain (late 90s). Since Scott, the chief, smoked as well, it wasn't a big deal. Still, everyone except John Bull Durham made an effort to keep the smokes out of the studios.Hoosier Daddy wrote: 4. SMOKING IN THE PRODUCTION ROOM![]()
Whatever happened to John?
Is Scott still the chief?

There's a tape eraser, or big ass magnet, just to the left of the board.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

Very asute observations! Can't ID the cart machine. The board is a mono Gates Producer with 4 inputs. One of the early all solid state consoles. Haven't we all had to sit in that chair at one time or another?Hoosier Daddy wrote:

If it's Radio Crime chances are I've done it or had it done to me.
