My Summer Hours At Work And WTCS

Post by Scott Reppert »

During Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer months I get to go in to work at 6am so I can get off at 2pm and enjoy the sunshiny afternoons...either mowing grass or lounging on the deck with an iced tea with one of them there little umbrellas in them while reading "Michael Zarnock's Complete Guide To Hot Wheels Variations".

This scenario means that I leave the house at 5:30-ish to get to work around 6am. Many times the car radio is on WTCS because the last thing I listened to was the Pirates' game on 1490 the night before when I pulled the car into the garage.

Five or six times now I have turned the ignition on between 5:27-5:35am during those mornings and heard a spot break that included local and national spots, a CNN newsbreak, more spots and weather forecast from the "Weather Station".

Then, at 5:35am...dead air. Not just dead air, twenty minutes of dead air...until "Biblical Truths" comes on at 5:55am.

I am puzzled by this because I don't know whether to think "What the heckydoodle is going on with that?" or give kudos to a sales department for being able to generate revenue from silence...
