Rev. Jerry Falwell dead at 73

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Did anyone else here see 'Nightline' in 1984 or '85 featuring Falwell and Senator Goldwater? It's wasn't too hard to figure who was the good old-fashioned small-government conservative. After listening to Falwell's judgemental bullshit long enough, Goldwater leaned at him and thundered, "Why don't you try minding your own damn business!"

Here's a nice recap of Falwell's greatest hits, courtesy of the Nation:

- Falwell regularly featured segregationists Lester Maddox and George Wallace on his Old Time Gospel Hour television program in the 1960s
- He often referred to the civil rights movement as 'the civil wrongs movement.'
- He opposed sanctions against South Africa's apartheid regime in the 1980s.
- He produced an infomercial in the 1990s accusing President Clinton of orchestrating murders of journalists and critics, though he would eventually admit that 'I do not know the accuracy of the claims.'
- He attacked Teletubbies character Tinky Winky as a recruitment tool for homosexuality.
- He asserted that the Antichrist 'must be Jewish.'

What a prick.

If memory serves, he and the geriatric Senator from WV have the first 3 in common. I wonder if they'll be so prominently mentioned upon his passing.
