And here's where we disagree again. Democrats have offered compromise on the debt ceiling situation. But every time they agree to a Republican point, the Republicans step back and refuse (the old "can't take YES for an answer). Even Mitch McConnell and Boehner have tried to compromise but have had their balls cut off by the radical wing of the party led by Eric Cantor and the Tea Party nuts.
The debt ceiling and our deficit are really two separate problems and should be treated as such. Raise the debt ceiling in a clean bill. Tackle everything else separately. A refusal to raise the debt ceiling will destroy this nation's economy and possibly that of the entire world. And Republicans, no matter what you believe, will be blamed for it.
As partisan as I am, and I'm crazy, I don't want that to happen. I think the Republicans have already discredited themselves enough to screw them in 2012.
And I still haven't found anybody to take me up on my thousand dollar wager that Obama wins re-election.

And there's the problem. No, not the Republicans, the Republicans and the Democrats. Both of you are more worried about blaming the other side than you are coming up with a solution - unless that solution is unconditional surrender and compliance with whatever plan your team is in love with at the time.
