Had the chance this past week to make some discreet inquiries around town about this rumor.
The consensus seems to be that Fitzsimmons might have enough money to buy WTRF, but not to replace those bits with "Forward Television" inventory stickers on them.
Consider: WTRF unceremoniously dumped the connection with Clear Channel - Wheeling, with reportedly little or no warning to anyone inside or outside the organization. Given: now that WTRF is now running plugs for WKKX during their newscasts, people are thinking Fitzsimmons put some money into WVMH (or WTRF, LLC). WWVA now plugs WTOV, after a week or so of making do with the National Weather Service forecast.
Chairman Bray does have a WVMH note to roll over in less than two years... it will be interesting to see where he comes up with the money for that. Perhaps he views Fitzsimmons as a mark???

Interesting that's pretty much what I've heard as well. If its not to stupid a question what is Forward Television? I did notice WWVA dropping the WTRF feeds in their newscast. I though nothing of this since all the stations in the area seem to switch between the two TV stations at the drop of a hat.

Forward Television
Forward Television is the company that owned WTRF in the glory days. This was before it sold out to Wesray, which was followed Adams Communications, which sold out to Brissette Communications, who sold out then to Benedek Broadcasting which went bankrupt and gave it away finally to good ole West Virginia Media Holdings LLC.
