Oklahoma hard rockers HINDER recently spoke to MTV News about GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy", which is due for release on November 23.
"We've heard some of the earlier stuff that's leaked, and the single, and I was just kind of like, 'Eh,' " frontman Austin Winkler said. "Axl's voice sounds great, but that was never a problem. It was him going onstage and working with those other guys that was the problem. I think somewhere Axl's got all these other different guitar players he's tried to work with and he was just whipping them, going, 'More like Slash! More like Slash!' That's what I'm picturing in my mind."
"I heard the stuff that was leaked, and I know the mixes weren't there, but, being musicians, you can hear through that stuff — you still hear the songs, and to be honest, the songs just aren't there," drummer Cody Hanson added. "It almost sounds too artsy; there's something about it. It's not what it was. It's just missing something, and it sounds overproduced. ... I guess that's what happens whenever you've got 20 years to sit in the studio."
I'm sure Hinder will be voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 20 years. But, Madonna is in there...so....
Not a super fan and didn't take a trip to wikipedia (although I am a fan of that site). I couldn't have told you the name of the first album, just knew that there was one. I also knew that "Leader of Man" was pretty close to being their first single.
I really don't care what their first single was. All I know "How You Remind Me (How Much We Suck)" was the song that broke them and got played a trillion times. Made millions of those with car parts in the front lawn beat their wives a bit more softly when they heard the diseased cat that is Kroeger's voice.
No but he can sure drop one. From the three songs I've heard from "Dark Horse", it very well could be the beginning of the end for this shit. Now if we just get Mutt to produce the next Papa Roach album...
One can only hope. All those "post grunge" bands are dying. 3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd, and looks like Nickelback is next in line. Didn't 3 Doors Down have a deal with Wal-Mart for their last CD? Didn't that one tank?
I had to sit through Papa Roach twice in my life. One being at Ozzfest and the other being at the GnR concert in Huntington. At both events no one cared how "crazy" Coby Jacoby Dick Shaddix was acting.
Myspace is streaming "Chinese Democracy". It sounds like a Faith No More album. Weird, but pretty good. Lots of strings and a few of the songs are potential CHR tracks.
I got that Faith No More feeling, too. Which isn't a bad thing. Like I said, this is the new "Dark Side of the Moon."
