Monkey loose in Jefferson County

LEETOWN, W.Va.
A monkey is on the loose in Jefferson County.
Animal control officers began looking for the three-foot-tall black monkey Tuesday after receiving a call that it had been spotted in the Leetown area.
An emergency dispatcher said this morning that the animal has not yet been captured.
Ebersole of the Jefferson County Animal Control office says monkeys can be dangerous because they can carry diseases such as hepatitis. They can also bite.
It's not clear whether the animal escaped from a house or a medical testing facility.
Anyone who sees the monkey is asked to contact the authorities.
