Hank Jr., Robert G. 65

Robert G. Hank Jr., 65, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. He was the loving father of Marla Harris (Gregory), of Pine Township, and Bobi Rae Hank, of Fort Knox, Ky.; and loving grandfather of Patrick Kachmar. Robert studied broadcasting at Boston University which led to a career in radio as a disc jockey and also radio station management and advertising. He most recently ended his career with the PALCB. Robert was also a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard. There will be no visitation and services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to HP BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh. http://www.brandtfuneralhome.com.

As Pat Taylor posted on Facebook:

Very sad news to pass along to all my fellow Fairmonters. Bob Hank, possibly one of the best and most well known radio DJ's to ever grace the airwaves in the Friendly City, has died at the age of 65. He was a HUGE influence on me and was one of the reasons I got into radio and mobile DJ'ing. 12th Street Pool Parties were legendary; "Come on everybody, come on in! Bobby's gonna show you how to do the swim" And the last hour of his show was always "love jams" for all the people watching the "submarine races". As he always said at the end of his show each night; "Good Night, young lovers, wherever you are....". Good Night and RIP, Bob, wherever you are...."

Hank later worked at implementing "The Great 98" on WFGM and did sales for what is now WPCW-TV in Pittsburgh,,,
