Jerry Van Dyke, one of the most recognizable sitcom faces of the 20th century, has died. According to TMZ, Van Dyke—who starred for several years on ABC’s Coach as the beloved but bumbling Luther Van Dam, and who got his start on TV with a series of memorable guest turns on his brother Dick’s groundbreaking CBS sitcom—was 86.

HUNTINGTON - Dan Shoemaker, former baseball coach at Huntington East High School, executive at ESPN and college athletics administrator, died Wednesday.

Sonya Hall, a friend of Shoemaker, 67, and his wife, Vita, confirmed Shoemaker died during a visit to Huntington from his Charlotte, North Carolina, residence.

"It was very sudden," Hall said.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Radio host Arthur William Bell passed away Friday, April 13.

Arthur Bell, also known as Art Bell was the original owner of Pahrump based radio station KNYE 95.1 FM. And perhaps best known for his conspiracy theory in the paranormal, with his radio show "Coast to Coast" - which was syndicated across the nation.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office says Bell died at his home in Pahrump, Nevada.

Bell is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death.

He was 72-years-old.

Huntington native Hal Greer has died at the age of 81, according to the Philadelphia 76ers organization.

The Sixers said Greer died Saturday night in Arizona after a brief illness.

Harold Everett "Hal" Greer grew up in Huntington, where he starred for Douglass High School. Greer was the first African-American to receive a scholarship at Marshall University, where he averaged 19.4 points per game in his three varsity seasons.

The 13th overall pick by the Nationals in the 1958 draft, Greer went on to become an NBA champion, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and team legend. He was the 76ers’ all-time leader in points, field goals, field goals attempted, games and minutes played, culminating in him being named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996.

Greer was an NBA All-Star 10 times in his 15-year career with the 76ers and Syracuse Nationals. He was was also on the 1967 Philadelphia championship team, which ended the Celtics’ eight-year run as NBA champions.

Greer was the first player to have his number retired by the 76ers when the team hung his No. 15 jersey from the rafters in 1976. He still leads the organization in points, field goals, field goals attempted, games and minutes played.

He was drafted in 1958 by the Syracuse Nationals and moved with the franchise to Philadelphia five years later, spending his entire career with the franchise.

"In addition to his historic contributions on the court, Greer will forever be remembered as a true gentleman who used the tremendous platform of basketball to uplift and inspire others," the team said in a statement.

The team also said it will honor Greer in Monday's Game 2 of the first round of the playoffs against the Heat in Philadelphia.

Barbara Pierce Bush, the fiercely loyal wife of one U.S. president and mother of another who was a champion of literacy and admired public figure in her own right, died Tuesday at her west Houston home. She was 92.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Earle Bruce embraced the difficult task of following his mentor, Woody Hayes, as Ohio State's head football coach. In his later years, he became a much-loved patriarch of the program he helped build.

Bruce died in Columbus at the age of 87, according to a statement released by his daughters through Ohio State on Friday. He'd been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Bruce had a record of 81-26-1 as head coach at Ohio State from 1979-87. He took over under most unusual and challenging circumstances, hired after the revered Hayes was fired for punching a Clemson player in the 1978 Gator Bowl. Bruce could not meet Hayes' lofty standards and was never quite embraced by Buckeyes fans the way Hayes was, but even after being fired and moving on to other jobs, he never lost his passion for Ohio State football.
