They have a point with the Oprah line.
But, wow, what a half-rate promo campaign.

Once again...Thank you NAB for pointing out how utterly devoid of creativity and originality our industry is.
A hack version of Monopoly, then a awful rip-off of Mastercard ads (which have been done a MILLION times).
Fucking brilliant guys. Fucking brilliant.
An Open comment to Radio Company Presidents, Owners, and whoever else has a stake in this business:
Is this what your NAB membership dues are paying for?
You know what SatRad has that we DON'T have?
Content & Star Power.
Instead or worrying about why we're losing listeners every year, you spend more time mandating that jocks don't talk for more than :08 seconds. Giving away millions and millions of dollars worth of inventory to iBiquity to promote the Crystal Clarity of HD when it's the CONTENT that generates curiousity and buys from the listener. "Station between the stations..."??? Are you fucking kidding me?
The NAB may be the most pathetic attempt at an organization I've ever seen. Except for maybe the Baltimore Orioles.
Put PROGRAMMERS in charge of the NAB. Because business people are turning Radio into the B&O Railroad of the 21st century.
Sincerely,

Oh, so Clear Channel Monopoly can be played at game night but not Satellite Monopoly. I didn't read those rules on the Hasbro website.
If they merged, I would only have to put one satellite receiver in my new , right? Nah, I'll just download illegally on my .

Turns out MasterCard is NOT amused:

NAB to Revamp Sirius-XM Ad Campaign Over Parody
It seems that the often-parodied MasterCard commercials are off limits to the NAB. The trade group's full-page "Priceless" ads in a few Capitol Hill publications (asking Congress to oppose the Sirius-XM merger) brought the complaint of copyright infringement from MasterCard. The ad showed a giant "Credit Card" with XM-Sirius over MasterCard's familar red and orange circles. Below the giant credit card, the copy read as follows:
Howard Stern = $500 million for five years
Major League Baseball = $650 million for eleven years
National Football League = $220 million for seven years
Oprah Winfrey = $55 million for three years
Martha Stewart = $30 million for four years
Asking for a government bailout after making bad business decisions... PRICELESS.
In a memo sent today to some 40 board members and NAB's senior staff, Executive VP/Marketing & Communications and Regulatory Affairs Michelle Lehman said the original plan was to utilize the ad in numerous ways. "In fact, it has already garnered a buzz on Capitol Hill and some earned media hits -- reporters really got a kick out of it!" she wrote. But, Lehman added that "MasterCard was not so amused" and NAB assured them that "the ad would go no further."
Since the merger plans were announced, NAB has run a series of full-page print ads asking Congress to oppose the merger. (03-16-07)
