Oh no.
Amazing how life can change in the snap of a finger.
This is awful.
Burns are exceptionally painful injuries with a tremendous chance of post-injury infection.
But Cabell-Huntington's BICU offers exceptional acute and ongoing care of burn patients including rehabilitation services.
He is in good hands.
Get well, David. My prayers for a complete recovery.

10 PM news tonight said David is still in Cabell-Huntington burn unit in stable condition. Witness said he was trying to fight the fire himself.
Prayers for his recovery.

Wondering how he was doing myself.

I have been praying for him and got the prayer team for our TV show and radio shows (I thought that was fitting) to pray, also...

Charleston , Kanawha County , West Virginia

Nine home fire deaths have been reported in the past week in West Virginia.

A Charleston man is still struggling with injuries from his decision to try and battle a January 6, 2012 apartment blaze. The contents of his apartment were destroyed in that fire.

The fire that destroyed Dave Paleg's apartment in early January may seem like almost yesterday to him because he lost three weeks sedated on life support in a Huntington burn center .

The sixty-year-old burn victim is still trying to recover from what the blaze did to his lungs and body after his release from the hospital this week. He said he stayed inside too long trying to fight the blaze, finally went outside and called 911 and then passed out.

Part of his recovery is going on not far from the desk where he worked as night auditor at the Cross Lanes Sleep Inn and suites. His employer is providing him with a handicapped access room until he's well enough to get another apartment.

Paleg had no renter's or medical insurance. Firemen suspect an electrical problem caused the fire that left his home a gutted shell and almost killed him. Friends have set up at an account to help him.

If you would like to assist this fire victim, it's the Dave Paleg Fire Relief Fund, City National Bank, 308 Goff Mountain Road, Cross Lanes, WV 25313. The Golden Corral Restaurant has bee providing him meals and Walgreen's provided many small items that were lost in the blaze.

The Red Cross is also expected to provide some assistance.

Paleg said he had not been to the doctor in 36 years and doctors at Cabell Huntington Hospital discovered he had other medical issues compounded by his fire injuries.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts. I am out of the hospital, but not bacl to work yet. Southern fried but still standing... next to my walker. Feel like Herbert on Family Guy. Waiting on new bifocals to see the keyboard clearly. Won't be on here for a few more days.

It's sad that he couldn't/didn't visit a doctor for 36 years, being one of the working poor. Something is very badly wrong here. We all know folks that abuse the system...I have one in my extended family. The ones that flood ER's and waiting rooms because they won't establish a working relationship with a doctor, but all too willingly show up for even the least serious maladies. Surely we've got enough smart people without an agenda that can figure this thing out.

It is not that I am one of the "working poor". A desk clerk at local hotels might not makes as much as those at the Greenbrier, but it is what I like tp do. I just haven't felt the need to be probed, poked, or medicated till now. Also turned down the opportunity to apply for insurance at some hotels that offered it.

Mr. Paleg, I'm sorry about the poor wording of my comment. No offense was meant, and I hope none was taken.
