Confirmed: Redskins To Air On WBIG - 6/7 - DCRTV broke the news on Thursday afternoon. And now we get confirmation that Redskins owner Dan Snyder has done a deal with Clear Channel to have his team's games aired on classic rock hits WBIG, 100.3 FM, this season. The games will also air on Snyder's Red Zebra-owned Triple X ESPN Radio, via 92.7 FM, 94.3 FM, and 730 AM. Last season, many Redskins fans complained that they couldn't hear the team on Triple X's weakish sports talk signals. Also, DCRTV hears that Snyder's first choice was to have his team aired on rocker DC101, but Clear Channel "did not have enough (promotional ad) inventory available".....
Notice that it's only a one year deal... I guess Danny's still holding out to see if a full market FM becomes available soon.
I still wouldn't rule out a future 92.5 move-in to Northern VA.

I seem to recall reading on dcrtv that the proposal for the new transmitter site out near Redskins Park was recently denied by the Loudoun County zoning board.
I really don't think 92.5 is physically moving anywhere. Since the current site is a grandfathered Class C equivalent, I'm figuring that any new site would be truncated to Class B maximums. In any case, stations to the east would prevent pushing the service contour any further into DC.
For some reason during the 89/90 football season one of my former stations, the now dead WLOG (maybe that's why its now dead) did the Redskins games. Their games were without a doubt the most screwed up format for board ops I have ever seen.

The Redskins Radio Network is ran in-house now. Most NFL teams are starting to do the same thing.
But I don't know if that makes the board op's job any easier.

If that's the case, then he has no choice but to acquire a big FM stick, unless he can find another site.
Snyder Pulls 730 Signal Hike Plan - 6/22 - DCRTV hears that Redskins owner Dan Snyder's plan to move the 730 AM signal of his Red Zebra Triple X ESPN Radio sports talker from Mount Vernon to near his Redskins Park compound in Ashburn has been yanked from consideration at the Federal Communications Commission. Snyder had hoped that the change would allow WXTR to hike its currently lowish night power to cover the DC metro area, but the plan had been recently rejected by Loudoun County zoning officials. Triple X can also be heard on the FM frequencies of 92.7 and 94.3, which don't blanket the DC area. However, this season's Redskins games will also be heard on Clear Channel's WBIG at 100.3 FM.....
Yep, the CP was dismissed by request. I wonder if he has any other wrinkles up his sleeves. Open land to the west is pretty much gone. Maybe he can diplex with an existing site like WTWP's or, ironically, WMAL's.
