"Sensational" Sherri RIP

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Actually Cena is not that bad. I just pretty much hate the whole state of the business now, but if you've read any of the other stuff I posted on this subject you'll know I'm an old school guy. Cena works the crowd well, but my objections to Cena are the same as the reasons why I hate American Idol and shows like that. These people (at least some of them) have not paid their dues in their respective businesses, in my opinion.

Cena came up through Chaotic or whatever that is in Massachusetts, that XPW or whatever in California, and OVW in Louisville.....these days, what else is a guy supposed to do?

I initially wasn't that big of a fan (except for his look) and still don't mark out for him or anything, but the time I saw him backstage matched everything I've heard about the guy -- he works his tail off. He just had that laser-focus on what he was doing...he was thinking, learning, running around to seek out others and get their input, really working to understand where things were going and what he was doing...he was also doing all his own gopher stuff that he probably could have had someone else do.

Once on the air, he's a guy you can count on to go out with a live mic and do a very reliable 10-15 minutes that doesn't have to be too terribly scripted. (If you see a guy with a live mic out in the arena, that's somebody they completely trust in terms of talent and understanding; those who still have work and learning to do get seen "backstage" in taped segments only.)

So I just can't hate the guy....he has a great look and maintains and updates it, works the mic just about as well as anyone has, totally understands what's going on but learns something new every day, works just about the longest every night as he headlines every live show, makes media and charity appearances like crazy, spends very little time at home....I mean, geez.......

don't forget the time he spends staring in hellaciously crappy movies like "The Marine"
I'm not an idiot, but I play one on the radio.

I also hate the state of the business, but Cena does what is asked of him and performs well. He was able to carry Umaga to a good match at the Rumble and get at least a decent match out of Giant Khala. I imagine that HHH will do everything he can to bury him when he comes back, but for now he's carrying WWE, especially with guys like Shawn Michaels and Undertaker hurt.

All valid points. Maybe I should have said..

..and yet VINCE MCMAHON is allowed to live. Actually I was never a fan of Sherri Martel at all. I always found her character to be very annoying no matter who she was working for.
