Nine Parks Shut Down Tower Rides After Girl's Feet Severed in Kentucky
Nine thrill rides around the country were shut down Friday after a 13-year-old girl's feet were severed off at an amusement park in Louisville, Ky.

I was over there this morning for a briefing on the accident. Pretty grim stuff. Apparently, she was struck by a steel cord or cable that held part of the ride up. She had her feet amputated cleanly about 60 feet off the ground. Right now, it's 3pm the next day, and she's still in surgery at University Hospital. They're trying to reattach both feet.

There was actually very little bleeding since the hot cable acted like a laser, and cauterized the wounds.

I did interview one witness last night who saw the feet falling about 50 yards away from the ride in the midway....Happy first day of summer....
