am i the only one in America that thinks the Onion and that entire style of comedy is completely unfunny?

up until about 6 months ago i was getting "worked" by sales people (from whoever distributes the onion radio stuff), trying to get me to add a daily onion feature to my morning show. they kept calling and hounding, and sending me demo's. finally instead of being nice and declining, i just told the chick how i felt. she hasn't called back.... hope i didn't offend her with the comparison to a retard teaching advanced physics.... maybe she has a mentally challenged friend??? i meant it in it's Websters form of course....

oh well... maybe i'm the tard-bar for not getting the humor....

anybody got any lime jello????

Zak, if you don't like the Onion, does that mean you don't like Jon Stewart or the Colbert Reporrrr? They're both satirical theatre of the absurd. Saturday Night Live? Seinfeld? All different versions of the same basic attack plan.

jon sometimes. colbert, more so than jon. SNL haven't liked it since akroyd belushi chase etc... seinfeld is ok...

comedy is ALL IN THE DELIVERY (imho)

for example.... let's take a simple stupid unfunny joke and put it into the mouths of 2 1/2 known comedians.

joke... why'd the chicken cross the road?

punchline to get a bag of funyans, of course

told by president bush... unfunny, probably get a WTF? from me

told by jon stewart... enough to get a head nod from me

told by chris rock... i would probably chortle a touch...

probably a really bad example, BUT i think you get my point.

Two thoughts:

1. This past year didn't completely suck.

2. A fundamental element of comedy is surprise. I think, as we get more years on us, we are much less likely to be surprised; as a result, virtually all of "constructed" comedy is less funny as we see more of it.

great point, i didn't know quite how to say that... but "constructed comedy" hit the jew right in the wallet.

Those Onion Radio News liners are hit and miss. Some of them are stupid; some of them are hi-larious.

I don't think of comedy in terms of "brands", like a car or something... If it's funny, it's funny.

(Like monkeys and midget pron).
