Long Running Morning Shows
I know I'm going to regret doing this, but tomorrow I will celebrate (?) my 14th year of my morning show. 14 years of lost dogs, little league hot dog sales, etc. I state this not to be celebrate or pitied. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the running record for a morning show is in West Virginia?
As as side note the year I started doing mornings and WVOW some of the "current" hits were Michael Jackson's "Will You Be There?" and UB40's "Can't Help Falling In Love". Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog hadn't hit yet. Grunge was still huge. Seinfeld was also big and my Cowboys were about to beat the Bills for the second straight year in the Super Bowl (well a few months later). Clinton was in the White House and Caperton was in Charleston and I was driving an '88 Ford Escort.
Anyway, anyone have any idea about the record?
Attack at will.

A couple of years ago, the Charleston Daily Mail ran an article on Steve Bishop's 25 years at V100 (WVAF). I don't know if it is a record but it is a heck of a lot longer than any of my jobs in any type of business. Al Woody has probably been on WQBE in the mornings about 20 years.

But has Bishop done mornings for all those years in a row? Maybe, not sure. As for naming something after me unless your name is Robert Byrd or Earl Ray Tomblin that doesn't happen here. A methadone clinic would be good, perhaps.
BTW, Zak, that old Escort was a friggin' tank! When I was at Marshall it was flooded (since I was too drunk to notice that the street where it was parked was flooding), the cooling fan fell out of it, literally. Good old piece of shit, though.
Erin was actually 11 when I started doing mornings here. We have a couple of part timers here who are younger than her, however it typical Logan County fashion, they are all already receving government checks.

I don't know, two years, I think. Much like her hero, me, she went to Logan's own Mud Fork University first. As for Steve Bishop wasn't he on The Wolf for a while, back in their Kicks 96 days? If so he is disqualified. I'll take my gold watch now.

I think Stallings has been on WAJR mornings since the mid to late 80's. He was there when I came in 1990--and is still there. He and Kay Murray have been on Morgantown A-M for many years.
