French mime Marcel Marceau dead at 84

PARIS -- Marcel Marceau, who revived the art of mime and brought poetry to silence, has died, his former assistant said Sunday. He was 84.

Marceau died Saturday in Paris, French media reported. Former assistant Emmanuel Vacca announced the death on France-Info radio, but gave no details about the cause.

I remember when he appeared in the Mel Brooks film "Silent Movie" as mentioned in the article. In a cast that included Brooks, Dom DeLuise, Marty Feldman, Paul Newman, Bernadette Peters, Sid Caesar, Burt Reynolds, Liza Minelli, and many others, Marcel was the ONLY one to speak.
