W.Va. Broadcasting Hall of Fame

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Thirty-two radio and television pioneers will become members of The West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame at the second annual induction ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 3.

The ceremony is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Museum of Radio and Technology located at 1640 Florence Ave. in Huntington.

Tom Resler, president of the museum board, said the hall of fame truly represents the great legacy West Virginia has in the broadcasting industry.

“These inductees have created a rich diversity of programming at radio and TV stations across the state,â€

I see my old boss is on the list. Last I heard Bob Harvit was still in Florida (has been since 79'). He sold BTH/XCC in 2000. They now dup Pikeville 100%. It's just not the same Williamson any more.

East Kentucky Broadcasting just lately moved the FM to Mcveigh. Now they don't need my 430 ft tower for the AM. Wonder if they will shorten it, replace it or just go dark with the AM?

Lots of "well deserved" and even a few "what?!?!?" on the list. No need to drab over it. Overall, good selections.

Foe those of you that have never been to the Hall Of Fame And Museum, I highly recommend it..

Such a huge museum..

Yet, due to budget contraints it's only open for a few hours, two days a week..

If you see some mail carrier there, trying to accept an award whilst putting on a weird accent, you'll know where my invite went.
So sayeth His Royal Highness King Spike; greatest broadcasting talent of his generation.

don't go unless you have an invite. another dj and my self went last year and were not let in. I have been in broadcasting for over 50 years. I was at WPLH back when and WTCR, WFTC in Kinston NC and 45 years in tv. but was not let in. the fellow with me was in broadcasting for better that 25 years. we were treated badly at the door. so if you don't have an invitation don't go .

If ya wanna go, just call Lloyd MacIntyre in advance and do the RSVP thing, so they will have a spot reserved for you..

Joining the Museum is Just $20 or $25 a YEAR!

And worth every penny...

Sorry you were treated badly at the door...

The event last year was chaotic because it was the first one, and that little gym can get quite crowded during these events...

It gets crowded enough during the swap meets, much less when so many people are inducted and they each bring 5 members of their family with them..

Just call them ahead of time. RSVP, and you should be good to go..

Again, no Mark Hallburn.

The broadcasting world is outraged.

My only question is: does Conrad have to pay to get in or even RSVP if he is just going to "sign babies and kiss autographs"?
