More free time for Arp...

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Farewell To The Mighty Hyphen

* Grammar purists, get ready to have your head explode: The new Oxford English Dictionary is getting rid of hyphenated words. [Newsweek]
* The fickle gods of the English language have decided to do away with 16,000 hyphens.
* Some words will now be joined to become one. Others will just be divorced, their life-long connection to one another amputated.
* Farewell to “bumble-bee,â€

That's not how my brain works....this will actually consume more time! Whenever I hit these mistakes when reading, my brain comes to an abrupt halt, backs up, and works overtime to try to make sense of and be sure of the real meaning of what's been written. When I was younger, I could read about a page a minute; now, pages take 2-3 minutes each.

Then, it will be wrong. But isn't the Oxford the British dictionary?
