More than 2000 workers have been freed after an accident at a South African gold mine left them stuck 2 kilometers (1.3 miles) underground but about 1200 people remain trapped, officials say.

i just happened to catch some of the video of these miners coming out of the mines... something looked "off" to me....

did they seems a little "clean" to be coming out of being trapped in a mine for like 24 hours or whatever??? some of them didn't have a SPECK of dirt on them.....

I believe the problem was in or near an elevator shaft; "the whole mine" wasn't involved.

Reports this afternoon are that all of the miners have been rescued.

The South Africans have developed a novel way of saving miners.
The mine had a second way out.
We should investigate this method to see if it might be useful here in the
Mountain state.
