That's what I thought... CC was pretty quick to throw him under the bus during Boobgate.
It comes down to economics. Stern was on only 6 CC stations. He made them money, but he wasn't their cash cow, like he was with CBS.
Rush is CC's only remaining cash cow, being on 600+ stations. The company would take a huge financial hit if they lost him, or many of his affiliates. They really have no choice but to defend him.
Free speech issues aside... It's amazing to watch the first amendment being so violently attacked these days from many sides for many reasons.
