Also, pity Notre Dame doesn't have Army on the schedule so we can see if they can lose to all of the services in one season.

Who cares if <b>THE</b> Ohio State University got beat by some young upstarts, as long as they beat Michigan our season is complete.

At least they're not Marshall. I'd rather be a Notre Dame fan than a Marshall fan, at least Notre Dame loses to real football teams...like Navy.

So what you're saying is...(fl)UK(e) can beat Ohio State, as well as Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Miss. State, etc??

(fl)UK(e) already proved, like Marshall, they can't hang. They beat a superior LSU team and couldn't hang on and beat Florida, and two other teams that suck.

I could see LSU, Georgia, Alabama, or Auburn beating Ohio State this year, that is if OSU played any of those teams this year. I'm a OSU fan, not an unrealistic one.

So which team are you gonna nutswing from this week? LSU or Georgia?

I'll weigh in on this one. Yesterday was a heartbreaker, but it's been a hell of a ride. Twenty Big Ten wins in a row is nothing to sneeze at. And next week is Michigan vs. Ohio State. Still a chance for the Rose Bowl, and still a chance to kick Michigan's worthless ass. Everything's still good.

The only reason I posted this thing to begin with is that the majority (not all..just the majority) of OSU fans I have met are very arrogant about their team, so naturally it makes you happy to see them lose. Marshall sucks this year, that is a given. Ohio State fans should be happy with all they have accomplished over the last couple of years. That having been said...

FUCK OHIO STATE!!!!

It's not really arrogance. Think more along the lines of hometown pride bursting at the seams. Ohio State is probably one of the best colleges in the world. The campus is huge, beautiful and diverse. The academic offerings are first class, and you can get a degree in about any subject offered. Students come from all over the world to study at Ohio State.

Buckeye football is legendary. In so many ways, the Bucks are Ohio's statewide pro team. You can love Ohio State and still root for your (more local) favorite like Ohio University, or Bowling Green, or Kent State, or the University of Cincinnati or whoever. It's all good.

Loving Ohio State doesn't force you to divide the state in half like West Virginia's Marshall vs. WVU rivalry or Kentucky's UK vs. Louisville standoff. Brutus Buckeye is as well recognized as the CBS "eyeball" and the McDonald's Golden Arches. When you choose to support OSU Football, you're part of a huge international family of sports fans and part of a legendary dynasty in college football.

Win or lose, the Bucks rock!

No Marshall bashing here. My mom, my dad, and my sisters all graduated from Marshall. I am still perplexed at the whole Bobby Pruett thing. Under Coach Pruett, Marshall won -- and won big -- year after year after year. Then one year, in mid season, and for no apparent reason, a disheveled and seemingly panicked Bobby Pruett faces the cameras and microphones to announce his 'retirement' at the end of the season. No one really understands why. Then the team goes to hell -- can't win a football game. And no one seems to know the whole story.

I think Bob realized the roster was bare and realized the time to get out as a revered legend was right when he did. There are those who disagree with me, but I still think he got out while the gettin' was good.

I will always say there was more to Pruett leaving than met the eye. You can't tell me that it was simply that "the cupboard was bare". Something else was going on there, for sure.

Probation.....it did what it was supposed to do...we(hell)The Herd, isn't back up to full smoke yet...I think next year we(hell) The Herd is at a full 85 schollies..plus, during probation they couldn't recruit props either and that hurt the worst.

I had a feeling he was going to retire when at the end of the W. Michigan game(last game at the Joan), his entire family walked off of the field with him. That never happened before.

I will preface this by saying I'm a Marshall grad and I bleed green for a number of reasons (other sports teams I am a big fan of are also green and white). How many times in the "modern era" of the NFL has a school had two starting QB's? I don't know and I'm not privleged enough to have access to Elias (it happens occasionally now when Brian Griese and Tom Brady start, and depending on where John David Booty goes in the draft, USC could have two), I'm just throwing it out there. He had a long streak of good recruiting, plus Randy Moss dropped into his lap, and we all know what he's doing for New England. The players just weren't in the pipeline.

Do I think there was something else there... yeah, probably, but let's face it, Marshall was heading down. There was no QB heir apparent (Bernie Morris ain't it). Plus, I don't know what Pruett's management style was, but he was in his mid-60's, and if you can't be a delegator, you can't keep coaching at that age. Bowden and Paterno delegate, that's how they've managed to stay in the game. Maybe the high dollar alums wanted to get an early start on the post-Pruett era, I don't know and will probably never know.

MU got a boatload of good players and they were in a system that they could flourish in (I'm not saying Marshall's like Cal or Florida under Spurrier where the QB's were strictly a product of the system). Plus, I think the desire of the fans to keep going up and and up and had a lot to do with it. MU won in 1-AA, they beat the MAC and won bowl games, and winning became an addiction that eventually couldn't be filled.

That's just the way I see it, I might be dead wrong.
