Is WCBS 101.1 FM NewYork getting worse everyday?

I saw this on another website that Oldies101.1 out of NewYork is getting wrose dud to the format tweaking more towards the 70's 80's just about no more 60's. I understand very clearly that Oldie's is dying across the Country cause the age is getting older. Advertisment dose not want that no more! I hate big Broadcaster like CBS Company CC.

In 2002, Oldies 101.1 was on my presets at the office and in the car when I worked in north Jersey and I can say that WCBS-FM always had a lean towards 70's music and not the 60's. The mixed some 60's music in, but they also mixed in a bunch of early 80's as well. WCBS-FM was never an oldies station like you would find anywhere else in the nation. It always had its ownstyle and mix that was just a bit different than the rest of the canned oldies formats. To say that WCBS is changing is not accurate because it sounds like they have resumed the format that they had just before they flipped to estrogen-styled AC.

And if you want some funky oldies, check out WOUL (WCBS oldies sister staition in Philly) where FUNK is king. Definitively not the Good Times, Great Oldies sound in voice tracked services found around the US. Although I was listening to Dick Bartley on B97 last night on a drive around town and I have to say I miss that oldies format in Philly.

Yes, WOGL 98.1 FM.

I just listen, I do not pay attention to the call letter. Typically, I am really interested in traffic because WOGL plays traffic from KYW-TV every 10 minutes like their AM sister station KYW 1060AM.

Every single call letter in the country? A person should at least be able to learn, memorize and recite the call letters of their employer, not promote other stations (unless paid for advertising). When I worked for WQBE and they offered jackets with their logo for a hefty price, I figured they should pay me for advertising on my back.

Dang it!!!

Considering that most of the FM stations flip formats and call letters every 6 to nine months in the Delaware Valley, it is really hard to keep track of them on the radio dial. Other than the college stations, WMMR, WMGK, WBEB, WDAS, WIOQ, WOGL, and WXTU are the only stations to not flip formats since I started working in southeastern PA in fall 2003.

WYSP-FM 94.1 is the only station to blow up formats twice in the last 20 months and not change the call signs.

Call me a geek (you wouldn't be the first), but I know all those calls and I haven't been in Philly since 1983.

No, that would not be a geek because those stations are legendary. OTOH, the stations in Trenton have flopped frequencies and calls at least twice since I have been in Philly. Quite a shame when The Hawk (not to be confused with the same name for a station in Easton, PA) was a great format until it flipped frequencies and then has been blown all to pieces. Same goes for Sunny 104.5 which was better than WBEB B-101 which was flipped to Rumba 104.5.

The only new concept in radio that has hit the DE Valley that has stayed for 30 Months has been Greater Media's WBEN-FM which is a Jack'ed off version of that radio failure which worked well in Philly. Although, BEN-FM has a morning show and traffic now compared to having no DJ and maybe 5 commercials (tops) an hour in April 2005. Of course, you have to consider that Jack was random music as opposed to Ben being the best of today mixed with the music library of WMMR-FM and WMGK-FM.
