WSAZ on air mistakes

WSAZ seems to make a lot of on air mistakes lately.
Primarily switching and grafx errors.
The job of switching is going to get much more intense when the
new robot system is installed. WOWK had a bizarre time with
their Parkervision setup and it showed badly on the air.
WSAZ may have to import directors who know and understand the system.
It may take too long to train the locals.

Everything past the first commercial break is filler.

None of WSAZ's video clips matched the stories read by the newsreaders on the 5pm newscast today. Who was responsible for that?

"OF COURSE"

This past weekend, a WSAZ anchor used the filler/braincramp/comma phrase "of course" five times in the first 30-40 seconds of a newscast! It was a live shot and obviously rookies have trouble with ad-libbing but, for God's sake, when you hear your brain want to say "of course," just wait a half-second and the urge will pass!

A story ran this morning during the 725am news update that a weight limit was placed on the Nitro-St Albans bridge which will keep
large trucks from crossing the bridge.

The video they used during the story was the I-77 overpass construction at the Rt 21-Sissonville exit.

Also, their website story about the cars that were broken into
Sunday evening at Christ Temple Church happened in BROAD DAYLIGHT.

I never understood why people say "broad daylight". The cars
were broken into sometime during their 6-730pm service. I wouldn't
considered this broad daylight since the sun is going down and street
lights are going on.

Increasingly common; Columbus TV too. Just last night an anchor, while describing an event that had just occurred, felt obliged to apologize when video showed snow falling. If the video detracts rather than adds, why use it? When a news operation loses its attention to detail, what does it have left?

This is especially true in Philly with ABC6 (WPVI-TV). And they get the ratings in this town just like WSAZ in the tri-state.
