Does anyone know what the FCC fine is for intentionally turning off the EAS Decoder?

24 alerts since mid-night. I didn't even count the ones from yesterday.

I am ready to smack someone's hand.

You just have to receive 'em, you don't have to pass 'em on.

I think the only things you have to forward are the monthly tests and the EAN. Anything else is left up to individual discretion or the state plan.

In my area, some of the more common weather alerts (Severe Thunderstorm Warning, Flood Warning) were not sent via EAS on the LP1/2. You could still get them with a NOAA receiver if you wanted them that badly. EAS activation was reserved for the more serious Flash Flood Warning and Tornado Warning only.

It's ridiculous. I can understand sending the tones for warnings, but they're even going EAS with the "special weather statements".

This is also happening on correctly programmed SAME home weather radios. Home users WILL turn those off, which totally short circuits a great idea.

Yesterday, WTOP had a hard enough time keeping up with warnings as wave after wave of storms zipped through here.

I put a "brand new" roll in on Monday. A "brand new" roll on Tuesday. Another one on Wensday. And another one on Thursday. That's BULLSHIT!!!!!! I was this [] close to pulling the plug and writing down that the EAS when down during the night.

Tri-State kiddies, make sure your yagis are pointed to your assigned NWS frequency and your filters are correct because your LP-1/SR-1 is going on "holy-hell lockdown" after that last NWS performance.
4 stations + 13 monitoring-assignments via microwave network (KBA is pushing for 15), satellite, and off air + outgoing alerts = 5 pages (single-spaced) of computer generated logs for one week.
(...and that's with semi-aggressive filtering).
