I just want to post in this epic thread before it's locked or something.

That's slightly true, sure, but what I'm really doing is helping you, the newbie, learn that one aspect of me is that I'm the grammar cop and stickler for near-perfection in communication....stay awhile, and you'll also find people who know the lay of the land of your market like you could only hope and local references and phrasings that would make you sooo much more relatable along with people with massive amounts of historical knowledge, engineers and computer folks who definitely know their stuff, a guy who knows how to swear better than anyone, people who'd all but come to blows over their favorite hot dogs, multiple people who've served our country and have our serious and sincere appreciation, tv folks who could get you on the screen but now think you're a jerk, talents who've been in the largest markets, talents who are in the largest markets, talents who could've been in the largest markets but chose the lifestyle they love, someone who's done the satellite thing with a name you'd definitely recognize, people running internet streams, people building media websites, people who've done many of the bigger radio deals you've heard about, and even the occasional hot anchor babe who could and should have made at least a 30 market jump a year or two ago (and who probably realizes that, coming from me, "hot anchor babe" is just message-board text used for entertainment purposes only to represent a very good talent...c'mon, girl, get it done!).

I have remained quiet on this because this washed up has-been is still pissed because my remote at the strip club got cancelled and it would have been the only chance I had all year to see mom. Anyway, Nick, you seem(ed) like and OK guy, even if you did cock block me from banging Gayle Manchin at the WVBA Governor's debate. That having been said how long have you been in this business? When you come in here and are surrounded by a bunch of old radio farts and you seem more interested in self-promotion than actually learning something, that is going to happen. I said from your first post that I had no problem with what you posted, but others saw it differently. I'm normally always wrong, anyway, just ask my wife. Anyway, just chill a little and I'm sure you will be welcomed in with all the other douchebags, like me, Nunley, Genlock, Clay and the rest. I didn't get to see a lot of your posts since many of them had been edited. I will say that if you said something about washed up radio guys in here, I don't find that offensive. I take that as a compliment. I'm proud of what I haven't accomplished in radio, because I know what a true radio person is supposed to be. I'm a drunk, I can't hear out of one side of my ear because of wearing headphones too loud for 20 years. I actually played 45's and carts on the air. I love strippers and hookers and was hospitalized earlier this year because I seemingly have a whole big enough to drive a truck through in my stomach from working too many hours, drinking too much, eating way too many meals from Taco Bell and putting other substances in my body.

Here's all I have to say and hopefully we can move on.

I wasn't out for self promotion when I posted my interview. In my mind it was merely trying to contribute materiel to other radio geeks like myself. But, instead of someone writing me a PM, I got publicly attacked. And as I see this morning, you guys are still running with this.

Who am I, I am from Cincinnati where I worked at two of the biggest sticks in the market. Q102 and Warm98. I wanted to get out of Cincy and "see the country". I landed a gig at 102 two and a half years ago. Dave talked about his numbers at 102 (that I am not questioning) but here are mine. When I moved here Middays had a 14 share. Now I have a 30 share and it keeps going up every book. So the remarks of me being an embarrassment was simply not true. But that is who Nick Scott is.

After a good night's sleep and letting my head clear. I realize just how childish most of this has become (even on my part). I don't care what anyone thinks of me really. Other than my family, close friends, gf, and God. So those of you who say that you've talked to someone at my work and that express that I am an asshole or a punk. That's fine. It really doesn't bother me because I know it's the same people that stop me in the hallways to tell a joke or invite me to events with them. People will always gossip and snicker at one another. It's human nature for some.

So I'll end with this. I don't know any of you from Adam. The reason I got defensive and gave my phone number was because I was raised to stick up for myself and you shouldn't say anything to someone unless you have the balls to say it to their face. So yes, I let my redneck come out a little. And for that I apologize. I want to make it clear that I only made those derogatory posts after I had be attacked. But I do apologize for those things that I said. I don't like living my life with animosity. One thing I wasn't lying about is my involvement in these forums. It doesn't seem like the place for me and realizing that I think it's best that I retire from these boards. I do wish you all the best and good luck in your future endeavors

Here's a nickle's worth of jack squat: Employers and potential employers DO check out your MySpace and Facebook before extending you an offer. I do this myself. Don't thing by setting your profile to "private" that you will somehow prevent this. I always find a way in if I am serious about hiring you.

I was just about to extend an offer to a very well qualified individual from Michigan. I did a phone interview and just really liked the guy instantly... that is until I jumped on his MySpace and read his diatribe about he previous employer.

Oh... and one final though, I went to the MU/Houston bloodbath last night and had me a Stewart's hot dog. Except it wasn't really a Stewart's hot dog because it contained within it a much larger 1/4 pound wiener. This was hot dog madness. Madness I tell you! Madness!

Seriously, this is one of the best hot dogs I have had since Salt Rock Little League Park stopped selling Mousey Gill's hot dogs some 20 years ago.

Yeah, maybe. I kept asking who talked about him and insulted him...it finally occurred to me it might have been me!

The "sucker" word wasn't an "I'm saying you're a sucker!" thing; it was that the campaign had found a sucker.

If you'll notice what the Obama campaign has done, it has almost completely avoided all tough questions, questioning, and questioners for a couple of months now for both Obama and Biden. Even the in-the-tank, fawning press is starting to wonder why their saviors aren't giving them an audience. Press conferences? None. Press availabilities on the planes? I think only one for Obama and only two for Biden in the last couple of months. Just produced events from which to draw the day's stories, nothing interactive or challenging.

Except for local markets.

You know, where the "neglected" and up-and-comers feel special and "privileged" just to have the image-building opportunities and would never go much off-script or ask anything but softballs. From the campaign's standpoint, "suckers." "Dupes." "Rubes." "Amateurs." "Yokels." "Lightweights." "Easy days." "Get-to-bed-early days."

I mean, why do you think Orlando and Philadelphia became such big stories in the last few days? Easy...some of these suckers, dupes, rubes, amateurs, yokels, lightweights, and easy-days apparently didn't "know their role."

The Obama campaign had exited WV a long time ago but found itself with so much extra money that it said "what the heck," budgeted $5 million, and re-entered a couple of weeks ago. They found it literally impossible to spend all that in a matter of two weeks of advertising in WV and went looking for what else they could do. Suddenly, local broadcasters are saying, "Look at special us! We got Mizzus Clinton!" and gave them/her free air time. Then comes the "once-in-a-lifetime" "stars" (third-tier C-List, if you actually think about it), and they get free air time.

So, yeah...."suckers."

I mean, do broadcasters fall for it when the local car dealer says something like, "in these challenging times, as a public service, we'll give a Thanksgiving turkey to everyone who takes a test drive," and asks for free announcements? When a local gubmint agency that hasn't spent its whole budget and is in "danger" of seeing it fall back to the accurate and reasonable level sends in a "PSA" to gin up new gubmint services recruits? When a local insurance agent sends in "PSAs" about how good it is for people to have insurance? When a local hospital with a new CT scanner to pay for sends in a "PSA" about the importance of early detection? Please tell me you just answered "no" to all of those. So why would people fall for this from a political campaign?? There is no way this should go on for free. None. From any campaign.

The people being sent are going to be far better at getting their talking points in than you'll be in supposedly steering them elsewhere...unless, of course, you either record the interview and edit out all political references or do the interview live in delay and dump the delay and the phone call the moment it goes political.

They're extremely skilled at deflecting the best and staying on-message and know the typical broadcaster won't be able to challenge them or get them off-message. That's why they've come...er, been sent. Are you gonig to say "no" and make them buy the time, or are you going to "feel special" and be some campaign's "sucker?"

Or do you have the ability and courage to be the next Orlando or Philadelphia? This isn't the time to overestimate your skills...they'll have run over you and be on to the next call before you have any idea what just hit you.

And Ashley and Ted? Good lord....she's a bimbo, and he's a mimbo. They are truly, truly clueless idiots. I mean, seriously, Ted's predicted the end of life on earth something like eight different times already, and Ashley simply uses her deep voice and ability to act to pretend to be smart...get more than one shallow level down into the substance of what they're saying, and they'll "uh" and "um" all over themselves, utterly collapse, and try to change the subject be...cause...they...are...mo...rons. Airheads. Serious airheads. Bimbos and mimbos. Seriously.

If you're going to be accurate and fair and do justice to your audience (and it's to them that you're responsible), you would have to make your audience see that...no softballs, no suggested questions, and prepped hard challenges the moment you hear the talking points. Even if one used to be a local. If they're coming on the field of play, they better be suited up and ready to take the full impact of the game, and you have to be the one to bring the game at them at full-speed. They may come in happy, casual, and anticipating an "easy day" but would have to be thinking "oh, s4!t, what have I gotten myself into" after your second question if you're doing what you need to. And if you can't do that (again, don't overestimate your ability), then don't schedule it in the first place.

So, back to Nick, I didn't "call you a name"....I shared with you how you're being viewed and categorized by the campaign and being put in their database. If the idea or the term is offensive to you, then don't be it for any campaign ever.
