A New Look For Rudi Raynes
Not sure when she got it done, but Rudi is sporting a new look.
She cut her hair to shoulder length and is now mostly a brunette (looks like some blonde streaks). You can see her old blonde look at http://www.wchstv.com/newsroom/persons/rudiraynes.shtml
Wonder what spurred the change?

Re: A New Look For Rudi Raynes
Graduated from high school in 2005?
Jesus.
Next thing you know, they'll find some 8th grade cheerleader, fix her hair and makeup, and have her doing weekend anchor.
And while I'm being a grumpy old man, WHO writes those "bios" for the website and does anyone actually believe them???

Rudi Raynes bio is a bit embarrassing. You can tell she's right out of college because it reads like a kids' MySpace page. But what can be said? This mentality of hiring young and cheap is the future of TV and Print Journalism. Quality has gone straight out the window. This girl puts so much video of herself in each story that you don't even know what the story is about. She also screws up a lot.
Last week I heard her do a story about "All-timers" disease. Does she know that there's no "t" in Alzheimer's?

I'm tryin to figure out your angle, couple weeks ago you're bashing liz noreika and now ms. raines. Really, whats your gripe..tvnewsfan wrote:Rudi Raynes bio is a bit embarrassing. Dear pot (from kettle),
I don't remember ever saying anything mean about Liz. I think you're confusing me with someone else.
Liz is a decent reporter. Rudi is not. I'm entitled to my opinion. I've read plenty of your posts bashing on the local news people. So seriously, calm down.

Right off the starting line, I think Rudi did a pretty good job.
Unlike the horde of new people at channel 3.
Channel 13, well, They may be giving up.

I just dont understand whats movtivation SAZ to be as suicidal as they've been lately. I'd hate to be the guy responsible for killing the undisputed leader of local news for decades. That could end a career.
and 13 quit trying a couple years ago...

Re: A New Look For Rudi Raynes
I read a news "bio" maybe a year ago ... might have been WOAY, WDTV, or WVVA ... but the meat of the content read something like ... "My dad is a Nuclear Physicist who travelled the world. We lived in Europe when I was young. My mother is a Physician. I graduated in the top 5 of my class at Dartmouth and did a dual internship at WNBC in New York and Deutsche Welle in Germany. But I'm just so happy to be here in rural West Virginia now, hanging out at the gym on my days off and making friends with all our viewers. Send me an email sometime and say hello"Lester wrote: ... that BIO still has "written by an 11 year old MySpacer" all over it.

I'd rather read these bios than the bios of academics any day of the week! Written by academics for academics, those bios are jam-packed with the most absolutely irrelevant-to-the-average-person material anyone could possibly imagine.
That being said, though, if I were working with her, I'd say, "this is all great info and everything, but let's kinda 'adult' this up a bit."

"Yes, you do; you just won't admit it!"

Caught Rudi Raynes new look tonight.
She looks fine. More natural, more at ease.
She has progressed faster than most new hires.

So she will be leaving to go to Baltimore, DC, LA or Chicago faster than most new hires. . . or maybe even Charlotte.

Re: A New Look For Rudi Raynes
3 years to get her BA in broadcast journalism???? Not doubting her intelligence, but really question why Concord College would not try to suck another year of room and board out of a student instead of letting them slip through the cracks like that with a degree and money left in their pockets. What is higher education coming to?????

Re: A New Look For Rudi Raynes
Three years is not all that atypical. Even thirty years ago, it could be done with going summers and what was back then called intersession. Of course, most of those who could afford to do so were children of the well to do. Not all, but most. The rest of us worked every possible hour we could, and summer school was a luxury we could not afford. Since then, grants and loans became more widespread, though they are now tightening again...
