The book won't be out until late January.
It's a crap shoot as to who did well or not. It always is when you have so few in-tab.

Re: Ratings are finally over...Who Won?
Throughout WV, although I would imagine there are a few Nielsen boxes that "phone home" nightly with the viewing that occurred the previous day, ratings for both radio and TV are obtained through a sampling of the people in each area in which chosen respondents use a diary to write down what they listened to (or watched) during a day. The diaries are sent back, listening is entered into a database, a kind of correction ("weighting") is done to try to match the collective of the respondents to characteristics of the known population of the market, a whole bunch o' math gets done, and reports get put out.radioretard304 wrote:Radio/Tv How do you get the latest numbers?
Is that what you were looking for?

Re: Ratings are finally over...Who Won?
I have always thought that my cable box reported my viewing habits back to Berlin or wherever.
It really would be easy for the box to do as it can order ppv or porn.
Satellite boxes report also and I suspect some sort of research is done there.
I can't wait for the PPM's to be passed out here. The chaos in NYC when the big rap
stations found out that they were not really number one was funny. The reaction when
the local stations find out that more people watch Spongebob than the 6pm news
will be priceless. I haven't got a clue as to what the radio ppv would reveal.

The same thing happened in DC, too, with the exception of urban AC at WHUR.genlock wrote:I can't wait for the PPM's to be passed out here. The chaos in NYC when the big rap

In general, AC, n/t, and rock are up, While urban and ethnic formats are down.
Despite the resistance, Arbitron seems hell-bent on PPM. It's a matter of time before it's the only system they use.
BTW, anyone notice that almost nobody in Beckley even subscribes to Arbritron anymore? How do they know who is listening?

If the book does not impact the sales, why bother with it.
Beckley may be one of the markets where ratings mean zip.

Re: Ratings are finally over...Who Won?
I was selected as a Nielson household when I lived in Morgantown. We had sat dish--no cable and the ota signal was horrible. Best we could do was Channel 12 through the snow. They hooked it to our telephone and made a call each morning about 2:00am to an 800 number in Florida or somewhere. I remember asking the guy who came to the house of the Sat dish was a problem, he said, "No." This was in the days before local tv was available on sattelite, so all of the Clarksburg and Pittsburgh stations got NO love from us.
