CBS consolidating overnight at clear channels (no relation)

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

CBS consolidating overnight at clear channels (no relation)

Jon Grayson of KMOX, St. Louis will anchor the new "Overnight America" talkshow for CBS

Grayson will be plugged into at least three CBS Radio stations – WBZ, Boston (1030), KDKA, Pittsburgh (1020) and WCCO, Minneapolis (830). In Boston, Grayson’s show replaces local host Steve LeVeille, and in Minneapolis it succeeds Al Malmberg and his regular fill-in, Brad Walton.

I feel that once someone starts doing this, all will follow.

Jim White was cool in a crotchety way. I met him briefly once in an elevator at the St. Louis radio awards (A.I.R Awards). He said hello when I did but he was just the same otherwise. Smalll but fun memory.

In regards to the topic as Jim used to say "you just can't fix stupid"!

Too bad the other John from KMOX ( Carney) isn't doing the show.Carney is very good and covers all kinds of topics.A few years ago John Carney & Grayson did a show called "Two Johns... no waiting!"on KMOX... and yes John Carney took Jim White's place at his retirement.
...and in Washington 2 peopls and in Newark a windmill and an armadillo!

At least KYW1060 in Philly was spared this fate. Sad for KDKA to lose their overnight programming.

I remember in the 70's listening to White's show. They also had this young sportscaster who did a midnight sports wrapup, then hung around White's show for about 30 minutes. They did the 'guess how old celebrities are whose birthdays are today' thing and just talked back and forth on stuff. Kid's name was Costas....wonder what ever happened to him?

I can't believe in my one trip ever to St. Louis last year, I didn't make it to Ted Drew's (sp?) to get a frozen custard. White's commercials made them sound like the best thing ever. White used to talk about bags of 'belly bombers' (White Castles) and also said weird callers were calling from the 'home for the incurably tall' or something like that.

Who was the old guy on the air after White who used to play old-time beautiful music - John McCormick or something like that? He used to refer to KMOX's 50,000 'red-hot watts'.

You haven't enjoyed life until you've had a Ted Drews concrete!
