I thought that WOWK was part of WV Media.

I believe the poster was referring to corporate layoffs. This is a valid point. I don't know how lean (or fat) they operate at the corporate level but you would think if one station is getting cuts, corporate and their other holdings would as well.

Well, they have to have "someone" watching control "some where". Have they gone to central master control for their CBS stations yet?

Even though the FCC is just a shell of what it used to be, I don't think they're allowing TV station transmitters to run on auto-pilot yet. Maybe Bray has alarms set up at his house in case there's trouble at Barkers Ridge. LOL!

Just watched the re-run of CSI. It looked like they recorded it on an old analog machine....sounded like it too.

just guessing but i believe csi was recorded by Bruce Howel on a vhs machine. he likes to record some shows. and has saved the station several times. about the layoffs they have layed all the receptionist at all the stations. the one at the Charleston office was there for a long time. several years perhaps as long as 20 years. i can't remember when she wasn't there. and the overnight operator at WOWK had been there for a long time also. Bray will find out that you can't run a station with no one there. there were plans in the past to run all the stations from WOWK studio. I can't see how the FCC lets the stations run with no one there. TV and Radio Stations were to be able to provide emergency news to the people, but now there is no one there to get the news out.

Through a declaration of secondary point of control, you can run stations from the moon if you wish. The "news" does not need to get to the people... only the EAS messages.

This is nothing new and the industry may as well get used to the idea of centralizing. Traffic, A/R, A/P, long-form sales, and even master control can be done remotely. In fact, this is already being done industry-wide.
