If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Post by Cameron »

Exhibit 1
Description: REQUEST FOR SILENCE STA

WEST VIRGINIA RADIO CORPORATION OF BUCKHANNON SEEKS A SIX-MONTH SILENCE AUTHORIZATION FOR WBUC, BUCKHANNON, WEST VIRGINIA. WBUC RECEIVED NOTICE FROM ITS TRANSMITTER SITE LANDLORD IN LATE 2008 THAT THE STATION'S LEASE WOULD NOT BE RENEWED. THE DEADLINE FOR REMOVING WBUC'S TOWER AND TRANSMITTER FROM THE PROPERTY IS FEBRUARY 27, 2009. THE EQUIPMENT IS NOW BEING DISMANTLED AND REMOVED IN ORDER TO MEET THE LANDLORD'S DEADLINE.

WBUC HAS A TENTATIVE LEASE ARRANGEMENT FOR A NEW SITE AND ANTICIPATES THAT A FORM 301 WILL BE FILED WITHIN 30 DAYS. AS SOON AS THAT APPLICATION IS GRANTED, NEW TRANSMISSION FACILITES WILL BE CONSTRUCTED AND PLACED INTO OPERATION.

UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES A SIX-MONTH SILENCE STA IS NEEDED AND REQUESTED.

That would be my guess. 99 year leases are now common as a result of such bickering.

Where is the tower located now? Some farmer's field or diplexed with their crosstown rival?

:?
Translators are a Pox on the FM radio dial.

Used to be across from the weyerhaeuser plant in Buckhannon in the middle of a farm. BUC was moved there back about what, ten years ago, when the Hampton Inn was built? The transmitter used to be below the old studio location off of Rt. 33 on WBUC road...hotel goes in, transmitter moved...I'm just hoping that someone saves me a section of tower of the first radio station I was ever on...

Hope the move goes well for the 'ol Buckup Country!

AND--------after it was moved because of the Hampton Inn coming in----- it was moved, well---kind-of, "half-assed." with the coax ran up a hill and the antenna stuck in a tree.

Which incidentally----(yes, I'm serious) caught on fire from the power.

I never knew what happened after that.

I was going to post a "Lost our lease, everything must go!!!" thread.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.
