How Radio Wrecks The Right

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Man, great article. Wish I could really comment on this...

But I will agree that conservative talkers are just as guilty of "talking points" as the liberal they accuse.

***This is for example purposes only, not to incite a political flame war***

For example, I've found many cracks in Hannity's overall conservative argument. Take health care. He goes on and on about "the freedom for people to choose their own health care". Yet when you point out to him that it's too unaffordable for many, he always retorts to, "Well, it's not the government's place to entitle everyone to free health care", while never offering any solutions of his own.

This has always been the proverbial plank in the eye of conservatism to me. This is a major problem, yet they largely ignore it, and go nuts on anyone who dares to offer a solution. If they oppose Obama's plan, they need to offer a solid alternative counter-solution, but they don't. Their solution is still the "free market", which is fine, except that the free market has ignored this problem for so long because the status quo has been more profitable. So their solution is no solution at all, just leave things the way they are.

As for Hannity, I've sensed for a long time that there's something disingenuous about him, but I still can't tell you exactly what it is. Maybe it will come out one day...

Anyway, the article had great points about the failure of liberal talk radio. Maybe they should stick to the "middle-brow" approach of NPR shows. It seems to work better for them.
