Time Warp to February 15th/16th?

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Time Warp to February 15th/16th?

Post by Greg Goodfellow »

I know this is extremely hard to believe, and I'm still in disbelief, but ALL the stations we lost on our cable system have been restored, and the quality has been great! WTRF, WTAP, and WBOY were off until this past Friday. To be honest, WBOY came back first, which puzzled me greatly. I've got to get hold of the dude in Florida that owns Windjammer to find out what happened. Whatever did, let's hope it doesn't change! If anyone (perhaps Genlock) has ANY idea how digital stations can appear on a system that would not be made DTV-compliant, please explain!

All they had to do was purchase one of the $50 converter boxes for each off-air digital channel.

Ultimately, I believe that is what has happened. I have not spoken to anyone with Windjammer but thanks to Greg's info posted here, I can see that a follow up may be in order.

It is my understanding that Vital Communications has agreed to acquire the Windjammer systems that were on the chopping block. They also acquired Bradley Cable, several other former Adelphia systems. They are still working on a deal for the Prichard, WV, and Apple Grove, WV, systems.

Thanks, Big! If this is true, we're getting passed around faster than a bong at a frat party after the cops come a knockin.'
I wonder if they were offered the "pay a dollar, we'll finance the dollar" scenario as well. Anyway, the service is still much better than per usual. The only iffy station is PBS, but that one would go off all the time well before the transition took place.
We'll pay the bill-we're just not sure to whom now. Guess it's Windjammer unless otherwise notified. Problem is, we weren't notified the last time.
