1520 WLGC goes 80's?!

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

"Walk Like an Egyptian"
A much better Bangles tune.

The Bangles were a LOT better than that song :)

One of the best all girl bands of all time.

"Eternal Flame" performed 3 years ago... Susanna was 48. Doesn't look 48, does she?

The Bangles were and are hot. No argument there.
I did like "Egyptian" and "Manic Monday" better than any of their more obscure stuff, though.

Written by Prince. No argument there.

How many girl bands can pull it off live like they could? Not many...

I doubt an all girl band has even bruised the Top 40 in over 10 years.

One with Susanna not as the lead singer...

Here's another one from Sirius I wish I'd hear on terrestrial stations:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgJA7lPkb1o

Alan Parson's "I Robot"

(Asimov inspired of course)

My point is there is a LOT of untapped 80's music that you rarely hear...

The only people with big hair should be women and guys in rock bands :)

Undeniable talent...

Notice that Susanna Hoffs plays guitar in addition to singing.

I'm not a huge fan of 80s music, but there was a handful of good stuff from that decade.
I absolutely loved the 60s and 70s, and even most of the 90s stuff. Go figure.
And you are right. In each decade, there is a TON of great stuff you never, ever hear ...

The 1980's were the last decade of classic rock and pop.

And we had a lot more than a HANDFUL of good stuff.

Yes, that's one

Can't find the original video...

Devo "Freedom of Choice"

Yeah, we weren't brain dead and we aren't the clone pop of today..

Seems relevant to 2009.... "Freedom of Choice is what you got.... Freedom from Choice is what you want..."

The 1980's were VERY underrated for artistic pop and rock. The 90's and today don't hold a candle.

I'm about Classic Rocked out. They've driven the format into the ground.
I really miss some of the early 90s electronica/dance stuff ... C&C Music Factory, et al.

Some early 80s stuff I hadn't heard in a long time (Note: It ain't Classic Rock) ...

Heard that on WLGC the other day.

I doubt any other AM station has played that in 25 years.

From 1988, my Soph year... My favorite rap song of all time... And the 80's were the "fun" rap years much as our pop was fun as was our rock...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy4FXhkm6Nw

"Bust a Move"

In the 80s rap songs "broke it down".'

"Rapture". Damn! That brings back some memories.
Little kids used to call me on the request line.
"Can you play the Man from Mars is eatin' cars?"

Sure. Get that right on. Don't breathe until you hear it, OK?
