Re: WSAZ technical problems
I thought Donnie Ray said this sort of thing would not happen again?
Of course he said that after the first major power outage too.
That was a year before the second major power outage.
Maybe it is expensive to fix.
Market leader, indeed.

0550, pictures and sound.
I sort of expected a promo on how you can count on WSAZ
when you want news.
I think there is no way to spin blank screen into a news promo.
Market leader, indeed.
I understand wowk had a similar trouble during the Marshall-WVU game.
Market bottomfeeder, indeed.

Re: WSAZ technical problems
WSAZ has been running promos celebrating their 60th anniversary on the air.
I am old enough to remember when they transmitted from 8th st hill in a building that is now a home.
Congratulations to WSAZ on 60 years of television. 50 successful ones that is.
I call the promo series "How great we were". I had forgotton how talented and beautiful some
of the WSAZ news women were. They all escaped.

or Jayla Anderson, who would talk with her head lying sideways on her shoulder... then, for no apparent reason, half-way through the package, she would switch to the other shoulder.

Re: WSAZ technical problems
I like the promo about going digital in Feb, now if you are not on cable or sat or have the converter box how are you seeing this promo?? Looks like a waste of time, then what would they have to run at this time anyway?

Another protip: make sure your monitor/viewfinder is properly adjusted.
Don't know how? Ask someone who should know how to do it.

Re: WSAZ technical problems
OK, so this time WSAZ sits on a picture with a sync bar thru it.
I realize sync is an obsolete term but it looked like a sync bar.
OH, and no audio. This happened during the wheel of fortune show.
Wed nite 7 to 7:30 time slot. That time used to be important to a TV station.
Is it necessary to call out someone from home to fix these problems?
That person must be very important.
I wonder if Don Ray will apologize and say that this sort of thing will
never happen again. Like he did last time and the several times before that.
Market leader, Indeed.

Re: WSAZ technical problems
At least they have the problem on the run.
They might be trying to chase it back to day shift,
where there is adult staff to work on it.

Re: WSAZ technical problems
WSAZ's Tony Cavalier was out in the snow outside the Charleston studio tonight.
He and cameraman discovered what happens when you bring a warm camera and
lens outside to shoot a live bit in the cold. Lens fogs up.
Kinda destroys the image of the reporter braving the weather to bring you the story
when it is obvious that they just ducked out of the studio to shoot the story.
Lighting also crappy.

Of course, (Columbus) Market Leader WBNS-TV reported:
"The Western Virginia Turnpike was closed from Charleston to Bexley ..."
Good God.

Re: WSAZ technical problems
Tonight Susan Nicholas commented that the main roads were clear secondaries were not.
Invited us all to check the WVDOT website at "Featured Links" on WSAZ website.
I could find DOT link but never did find "Featured Links".
Anyway the DOT website is a worthless piece of shit.
The entire state map is pink (denoting a statewide emergency).
No individual roads are listed and the only option I could find
told me that the roads were clear and wet and what the temperature was via a pop-up.
If somebody from WSAZ reads this, please tell me where the market leader keeps the "Featured Links".
