What is up with 94.5?

Just heard QBE simulcasting on 94.5. Is the "Super Talk" run over?

Tuesday & Wednesday last week you could hardly stand to listen as the satelite signal kept dropping out on the talk programa.

...the last post hit the nail-on-the-head. Satellite dish interference. They're even trying to take the dish to the xmtr site to get signal. Bristol's paying someone to sniff-out the offender. This is not the traditional Summertime wasp's nest. Old LNBs have an input of 3.4-4.2GHz. They should have a low-noise PLL type LNB that is 3.7-4.2GHz. Radar intereference can sneak in around 3.4-3.6GHz. I don't know if they had a T.I. filter to begin with but it's either someone else out-of-whack (radar/altimeter) or we need to welcome Wi-Max to the Charleston, WV market.

Automobile radar detectors will also kill the signal.

So I take that the formats will be back after they get it fixed...

As for Wi-Max, Sprint is the only cell company that uses it, and it's not available in Charleston, to my knowledge. It's mostly deployed in the 1.9 and 2.1 Ghz spectrum. Verizon's LTE network is nowhere near it, either.

Maybe it's something simple, like the dishes being out of alignment.

I personally lament the loss of the local programming on their AM's which are apparently not returning....

You would think with FMs power (when it's working) they would put on some local talk, and clean that poor excuse for an AM talk show's clock. I understand that part of the interference problem came from 102. That's been the case in the past many times when I was there on AM. I also understand that the Dish will be moved and some new electronic upgrades are on the way. The sad thing is that 25 years ago, this issue wouldn't have been allowed to go-on for days.... much less months and even years as it does today.

I wish they would put Dennis Miller on in the evenings. His laid back, comedic approach would be a good contrast to the "hardliners" barking all day long.
