WVMH and HD Syndicated Programming

Post by WV Newsnut »

Why is it that West Virginia Media Holding stations don't air syndicated programming in High-Definition, when it is most certainly available? I'm not sure about WOWK and WVNS, but WBOY and WTRF are quite guilty of this. I mean they air most network programing in HD, so why not the programming that fills out the bulk of their schedule hours????

Network programming is sent "live" down from the satellite in HD. Syndicated stuff comes in on satellite, but usually ingested into a server for later playback. Getting it HD means likely a major investment in new servers and possible even switchers and router systems. And believe it or not, even today not all syndicated programming is done in HD.

Just checked the syndication programming for every WVMH station's main channel... except for Judge Judy, every other show now broadcasts in HD.

Since her show has Judge Judy's face on the screen from at least 50% of the time, that proves she's a very smart woman.....

Simple.

The back-end stuff at the stations isn't able to handle it. Perhaps sometime soon... depending on the money supply.
