Did Anybody Watch "The Dick Van Dyke Show" Marathon?

If so, did anyone happen to notice that the voices seemed WAY high pitched and fast?

I think it was on TV Land, but I'm not sure. Would they be running that thing at such
a sped up pace that the voices would sound like THAT? I checked in on about 3-4
different episodes and deemed each "unwatchable" due to this factor. Neither Dick
or Mary Tyler Moore sounded like themselves or the way they usually sound on the
show.

Yeah, I know that, but most occurrences of it are not THIS noticeable. This was UNWATCHABLE!

I watched one episode and noticed it. The episode I saw had a different opening than the 'trip over the ottoman' scene so it was most likely from the first season. I thought i might have been the pilot, and Mary Tyler Moore sounded so different I almost wondered if someone else played Laura in the pilot.

I should know this, but were the episodes longer back then and they had to speed them up to play the normal number of spots per show that they would show when showing 'The Nanny' episodes?

At one time there was a "Seal Of Good Practice" and adherence to that agreement
limited commercial content somewhat.

The Code of Practices for Television Broadcasters was a set of ethical standards adopted by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) for television. The code was established on December 6, 1951. Compliance with the code was indicated by the "Seal of Good Practice", displayed during closing credits on most United States television programs from 1952 through the early 1980s.


The code prohibited the use of profanity, the negative portrayal of family life, irreverence for God and religion, illicit sex, drunkenness and addiction, presentation of cruelty, detailed techniques of crime, the use of horror for its own sake, and the negative portrayal of law enforcement officials, among others. The code regulated how performers should dress and move to be within the "bounds of decency". Further, news reporting was to be "factual, fair and without bias" and commentary and analysis should be "clearly defined as such". Broadcasters were to make time available for religious broadcasting and were discouraged from charging religious bodies for access. Most importantly, it limited the commercial minutes per hour.[1]

Saw a "regular" (in other words, not part of the "Marathon") "Dick Van Dyke Show" on TV Land over the weekend and it looked and sounded normal and watchable. I thought that was interesting seeing as how the back to back to back to back to back ones seemed like they were on 78rpm...
