Twiiter instead of Facebook

While I'm making a rare visit to the ol' message board from which I was so long banned, basically to find out if any of my co-workers still have gigs (congratulations on avoiding the axe so far to Jim, Woody, Erik and Dave, if avoiding it is indeed a good thing), I want to invite anyone who "tweets" to join me on Twitter...I can be followed and will follow back at @garymusicmiller on Twitter.

My wife does Facebook; I just plain don't care for it. I happen to enjoy the immediacy and brevity of Twitter, as well as the actual chance to correspond with some pretty major people. I've been "tweeted" by (and these are the officlal pages) such major players as Alison Sweeney, Howie Mandel, and Marie Osmond (on Twitter, check my "favorites"). I am being followed by the likes of members of the cast of A&E's Storage Wars, former soap star Thaao Phenglis, and 260 some other people. Steve Bishop of V100 just joined me; Erik on the X and Paul Swann are regular Twitter users. I invite anyone to try Twitter out, and if you are a "tweeter", I invite you to follow. I'd love to keep in constant contact with as many of you as possible.

back in the 90's, i was all about the chat rooms on AOL (that's where i got the nickname "Rick"...but i digress...). It was all about interacting with people then, and that seems to be what Twitter is about. But I landed at Facebook by way of MySpace (and spending WAY too much time on THIS website a decade ago, which i force myself to quit cold turkey), and it's a comfortable fit for me. I'm more about sharing news-related blurbs and cartoons (and not being shy about spouting off quirky ideas about religion and politics and lifestyles), and Facebook is great for that. I have only met about half of my "friends" on there, from different phases of my life, but it's a comfortable community.
