I hope someone can answer this question. when a station changes it's place of control don't they have to apply to the FCC ? did wowk do this ? I understand that Kendred comm. has bough the wowk building. Thanks for the info.

Requires a letter to the Commission, and possibly applications to move any licensed facilities such as STL's.

If they work a deal with Kendred to keep a studio, they wouldn't have to do anything. Otherwise they can move a control point to anywhere within the "grade B contour" with a letter. Moving microwaves needs an application. Charleston is not in the B contour.
Can you receive 13 off air in Charleston?

I took a look at their 36dbu map and it shows Charleston in the grade B, maybe when they were analog, but not even close now. That' s how they could move control point to Charleston. Charleston was in their analog B contour, use the on file map and maybe nobody will notice.

I doubt that you can, I can't even get them in Lesage or in downtown Huntington. they are only running 29,000 watts. I had to get an amplified antenna to get them in Lesage regular antenna not good enough. I can get WSAZ everywhere with the little antenna.

License says 12kerp?
Their single Harris Platinum-i box has a full boat and might make 5k. (18 x 250watt amps)
RCA TW-9A13-R 9db, less maybe 2db for line loss, that gets you close to 25kerp
The grade B 36dbu contour is based on analog power.
To make that you ran 13k analog into the same antenna and you got close to 37kerp.
I'm on a hill less than 15 miles away and see about 60db with a gain antenna. I see 3 and 33 almost 20 db higher on the same VHF/UHF antenna/analyzer. That's way outside the fudge factor for a uhf vhf comparison.
IMO their 36dbu contour map looks like fiction. To put their grade B over Charleston they need about 8k more transmitter.
