Reality happened.

1. The station was programmed (a number of years ago) with talk and sports, made some money that way, & was run by a native with lots of contacts & sales experience. New owners did not have those local connections, to echo the Music Man, "You gotta know the territory."

2. A music LMA? On AM? There are FM music stations in Ripley, Middleport & Racine with local signals, As well as a number of stations in Parkersburg and Charleston that can be heard in Ravenswood.

3. Ravenswood is not a business center. The business is in Ripley, the county seat. C-98 is well established there.

4. Main employer is the aluminum plant which is on strike more than it operates. Plus under constant threat from dumping of aluminum by the Russians and others, and the cost of electricity.

I feel bad when someone "loses" in the radio game when trying to do good. If they CLEARLY made a bad choice in terms of programming., oh well:( Sad...

i wonder why they chose a nearly all satelitted Jones music feed for the format?

It must be tough to make money in a city the size of Ravenswood, even with a FM translator.

Is the station on the air? The website gives no clue, and the streaming appears to be offline.

To answer my own question, the WMOV stream is working this morning, and the station is playing (satellite) classic hits. I heard a local weather forecast as well.

Wow, Tom, that was quick! That is a very nice little town with some good possibilities for advertisers coming aboard but it's also right between
Charleston and Parkersburg powerhouses. Tough place to be!
