WVGV

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

WVGV

Post by JKF18 »

Can anyone confirm that WVGV is broadcasting in West Union? Is it local or satellite-fed?

I saw an ad for them, but I thought their status was still a construction permit.

This is West Union, WV., by the way.

The plotted 60 dbu for the station would indicate about a 50 dbu signal here on Pike Hill in St. Marys. All I hear is WOSU and someone playing classical music--probably WKSU, Kent, Ohio.

This is just a CP at the moment.

Also, the 90.9 in Marietta has been granted a license, but is not operating at the moment.

This may be a trend...applying for nce permits & hoping to find a deep-pocketed buyer like EMF.

Thanks for the update. I think it was the local West Union paper I saw an ad for them. I thought that was kind of strange if they were not even on the air. Of course, not too many people will probably even know its on. That LP repeater for some religious station in Salem has probably a handful of listeners at any given time.

I just recently attached a small antenna to my SuperRadio III in the bedroom and they are on there. You'd "have to WANT" to listen to it, but they are putting in a signal on the West side of Fairmont...

I listened to them online Friday before leaving on vacation, then caught them on the car radio. I didn't listen long-it's about what you'd expect. Don't get me wrong-not being critical, but it's old-fashioned preaching, with the preacher saying "Friends" and "My friends" repeatedly. It reminded me of the Criswell monologue that introduced "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

Secondary question here...and one that more importantly affects me: is the BBN Fairmont translator on 89.7 completely gone due to WVGV?

If it is, I now have to listen to "Unshackled!" either on WYFU (the old He's Alive built 88.5 out of Masontown/Dilliner, PA) or online.

Moving forward about a year and a half...

My dad just happened upon 89.7, WVGV after tuning away from our station (how DARE he  ). They have a decent website and have been streaming for quite a while. They feature a 90-minute local show-approximately 90 minutes longer than any other similar station around here. We got their signal in the car fine until just outside Sistersville. Along the river, it was still listenable, but was in and out of stereo. Quite frankly, I wasn't sure it had the horsepower to get that far, although they run around 2,350 watts and are lower on the dial than our 91.5, so I really shouldn't be surprised. They're having a 'shareathon' type thingy right now...according to my dad, they want to raise their tower height to around 230 feet so they can make inroads into Marietta. However, I didn't see any of that on their website.

All in all, kudos to Araiza Ministries.

Aside from covering up 89.7 in Fairmont on occasion, everything I have heard on there as sounded good and worth listening to. I wish I could listen to both...
