92.7 WGIE

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

92.7 WGIE

Post by JKF18 »

WGIE is/soon to be back with the True Olides Channel. Logo says "Clarksburg's Greatest Hits" .... Hmmmm Isn't Sky 106.5 already using that name? The Scott Shannon service is already heard nearby on WVAM in Parkersburg and I believe WVRW in Glenville.

This station appears to have not a single ounce of local presentation at all. They don't stream, nor have a website. And their Facebook page hasn't been updated in awhile. Even on-air the only local aspect is the top of the hour ID. I did not hear a single advertisement or even a weather forecast. Anyone know anything at all about this station?

It's a wonder that "The Torch" didn't buy it as well. Might as well have one more conservative talk station in NCWV.

Please don't give them any ideas. This and the Peters' stations in Weston are the only non WVRC stations left that play music. So very sad what has become of radio in this area.

No doubt!! It’s a shame that it has went that way up there. Anytime I drive to Clarksburg, I keep my radio on 95.1 WGGE in Parkersburg for as long as humanly possible, just because there’s nothing up there that’s really worth listening to.

West Virginia Radio Corp seems to be converting quite a few locally or company voicetracked stations to Local Radio Networks. WKAZ, WELK, WFBY are a few I am aware of. It's getting really bad in what used to be a decent radio market. WGIE seems to at least do some Grafton sports. But other than that isn't it all controlled out of an old house in Ravenswood?

At least it is in WV and has local weather and is doing some Grafton Sports and some Salem sports. It will have local news like our other stations this summer.

That's a shame too that they are converting everything that way. It must be cheaper that way or something.. That or maybe since there's not really any competition for them in their markets. Charleston is probably the biggest competition they have but with WKAZ being on a translator now, it would be hard for them to really compete against WQBE.
