At the last Marshall home football game, Clear Channel's News Director Bill Cornwell made his debut as the PA announcer. Longtime announcer Mike Ruben reportedly sufferred a stroke and was unable to announce.
Cornwell will be behind the mike Saturday when UAB comes to Huntington. He said on facebook he's hoping Ruben will be back for the final home game the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Actually Bill did a very nice job. I heard several positive comments from those sitting around me. And now make that 'former' Clear Channel News Director...

One thing about Bill...he is a knowledgeable and respected journalist and sports whiz, and he will land on his feet in one medium or the other, if he chooses to (though thinking about it, going to a newspaper would be returning to the same ultimate route as radio...print media seems even more doomed!).
Marshall Reynolds is well-known for giving jobs to those closely associated with MU athletics (and not just at the H-D...one of my clients is a former Herd football player who now is in a cushy sales job with Champion Industries). Bill will be sending CC thank you notes very soon!
