Bob FM is, like Jack FM, a locally programmed format in large markets and a satellite-fed format in markets 41+ (or something like that).

While Jack FM did not find success during its 14 month run in Charleston, Connoisseur Media has had success with Bob FM in Bloomington, IL, Erie, PA, and in Wichita, KS. In Wichita, the numbers were strong enough to warrant the format being moved to a stronger signal.

I liked most of the music selections, but I'm not a hard core "one format only" person. The imaging was well done, and the processing sounded as good as always. The automation had some kind of meltdown last night with some buzzing noises and dead air, but everything was rectified within a half hour and I haven't heard any problems since then. I do miss Nate and A.C., one of the area's strongest morning teams, and the rest of the familiar 101.5 voices. Someone turned The River into a 50,000 watt iPod.

When you change format, be sure to load 64kbps mp3 music files into the system.

No one can tell the difference - and they sound GREEEATTT on the air.

Jesus Christ... You weren't kidding. I listened a while on the way home yesterday and the low bit rate compression is obvious and makes the station unlistenable (if the music doesn't turn you off, the shitty compression will!).

I just envision a cheap Dell laptop connected to an external hard drive with WinAmp rotating MP3s on shuffle. WTF?

Wow, I've always wanted to post on here (Connoisseur wouldn't allow us). I've finally hit the big time! I'm not one to spill all of the former company's dirty little secrets, although I don't respect a Vice President who can't even look you in the eye when he's firing you! There are still people there that I like and admire so I'll leave it at that. I will say that Conoisseur Media talks a big game, TALKS a big game, that's about it. I can count, on one hand, the number of times in two years that they actually followed through on something that they promised. They could never figure out why the station didn't work. It wasn't rocket science, the PD and the consultant combined to suck all of the fun, personality and edge out of a rock station. Thanks to everyone for all of the kind words, especially Bob. By the way, it's a little hard to understand your drinkin', smokin', swearin', meat-eatin' audience when you don't drink, smoke, swear or eat meat. Just sayin'!!

I'll say my piece then head back to my anger management session...Nate and AC were so good to work with, and it is only the DJs and a few sales people that made me miss radio (not all of them, of course...gooooozfraabaaaaahhh...)
